APA opposes funding cuts to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality

Today the CEO of the American Psychological Association (APA), Norman Anderson, Ph.D. sent a letter to the members of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies  opposing any reduction or elimination in funding for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). Additionally, APA signed on to a letter with nearly 150 other medical and research organizations  petitioning Congress to continue funding AHRQ.

APA is a strong supporter of AHRQ and is extremely concerned about any attempts to defund this critical part of the Department of Health and Human Services.

As the appropriations legislation progresses over the next few days, APA will continue to advocate against the funding cut.
