APA and other organizations to sponsor Capitol Hill event.
Mark your calendar! Several events are planned at the end of June to honor the National Institutes of Health’s Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research, which was established by law in 1995. The celebration at NIH will include the Matilda White Riley lectures on June 23 (speakers are Jeanne Brooks-Gunn of Columbia University and Kevin Volpp of the University of Pennsylvania), a Career Day for early career scientists on June 24, and a symposium in the Natcher Building on June 25. Details of these events are on the OBSSR website.
A special reception and poster session is planned for the evening of June 24 on Capitol Hill: APA, the Consortium of Social Science Associations and other organizations are sponsoring this event, called “Healthier Lives Through NIH-Supported Behavioral and Social Sciences Research,” to which members of Congress and their staff, other policymakers and the public are invited. Come celebrate with us!
